Dr. Tamura
Dr. Tamura is a native of Japan. She spent four years of her childhood in Australia, where her interest in animals was sparked. Her family moved to California when she was fourteen years old, where she attended high school. She studied Animal Sciences at Cornell University, in New York, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in 1994. She studied Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University. As a veterinary student, she worked at the Feline Retrovirus Lab and the Vector Borne Disease Branch of the Centers for Disease Control. She was also an active volunteer at the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program, and was active in the student chapter of the Association of Avian Veterinarians. Upon graduation in 1998, she moved to California and worked at All Pets Medical Centre in West Hills for four years. She spent some time as a relief veterinarian. She started working at Capri Plaza Pet Clinic as a relief veterinarian in 2002, but soon came on board as an associate veterinarian. She has been the owner of Capri Plaza Pet Clinic since 2006.
Dr. Tamura is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Southern California Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Avian Veterinarians, Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, and Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians. She has a special interest in avian medicine, but enjoys working with animals of all shapes and sizes, including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, rats, mice, reptiles, ferrets, and pot-bellied pigs.
She and her husband, Terry, share their home with 2 birds "Bingo" and "Athena", "Ashley" the labrador retriever, and a pond with 2 small koi and about 20 goldfish.
Dr. Mary Jo Howe
Dr. Howe has been practicing veterinary medicine in Southern California since 1989. She graduated from the Ohio State University of Veterinary Medicine. She also received a degree in Journalism from the University of Nebraska. She did her externship in New York at the Animal Medical Center. She has a huge love of all animals. She shares her home with her dogs, cats and birds.
Anna
Anna is a veterinary assistant and receptionist at Capri. She has been here since 2006. She has always had animals all her life ranging from cats, dogs, rabbits, reptiles and guinea pigs. She is currently working towards getting her RVT license. She currently shares her home with 3 cats.
Christy
Christy has been at Capri Plaza Pet Clinic since February 2004. Born in San Francisco, she spent four years in the U.S. Navy, serving mostly on the East Coast and in Newfoundland, Canada. She then served four years in the U.S. army working mainly as a flight medic for an air medevac unit. Christy shares her home with her long time partner, John, and her 3.5 year old cockatiel "Woodstock". Christy has two grown sons. One lives in Washington State and one lives in Reno. Christy has always had numerous pets in her life, including cats, dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, horses and birds.
Kristine
Kristine has been with us for almost two years. She grew up in the San Fernando Valley and has always shared her home with a variety of animal companions. She currently lives with two dogs, two fire belly toads and five cockatiels. She hopes to one day open up an animal rescue organization and save as many creatures as she can.
Mark
Part of our team since 2009, our Kennel Technician, comes to us from Scotland. Mark has a wide variety of experiences having kept dogs, cats, mice, rabbits and a 3 legged frog named "Capin Peg Leg" at various times. His combination of logic, compassion and attention to detail help us provide a healthy, safe and caring environment for your loved ones.
Meghan
Meghan has been at Capri Plaza Pet Clinic since 2007. She is the proud owner of Capri's mascot, Newman. Meghan has a special love of horses and has been riding for most of her life. She has a beautiful horse named Romulus. She also shares her home with cats, dogs and goldfish.
